Americans Not Eating Enough Fruit and VegetablesIt’s not surprise that Americans aren’t eating as healthy as they could and should be. A study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows that the American diet is actually getting worse. Americans simply aren’t eating enough fruits and vegetables.
The study shows that not one state in American comes close to meeting the federal guidelines for the amount of fruit and vegetables per day. And recommended guidelines aren’t so difficult – only 2 srvings of fruit and 3 servings of vegetables a day.
According to the CDC, roughly one third of American adults are eating enough fruit and only 26% of adults are getting enough veggies. The study shows that Americans were eating the same amount of veggies from 2000 to 2009. But what is truly unsettling is that people were eating less fruit in 2009 than they were in 2000, and that statistic seems to be dropping.
The best way for Americans to get the proper amounts of fruits and veggies is to start cooking again, and leave the fast food alone. Good healthy paleo recipes are what’s needed. Many of the meals can be made in under an hour.
